The role
This is a great opportunity for a Paralegal with 3+ years’ experience with a passion for Biotech.

In this role you will be responsible for assisting and managing the coordination and maintenance of the company’s intellectual property portfolio and international filings. You will be joining the IP Team reporting directly to and supporting the Executive Director IP and interacting with other principles of the company.

The position requires entry level experience working with patent and other intellectual property prosecution to assist with the preparation and filing of legal forms, maintaining relevant databases/files, and facilitating legal work and office procedures. The responsibilities concern assisting the preparation and filing of various prosecution documents, filings of U.S. and European patent applications, trademark applications, docket monitoring, electronic filings, file maintenance.


  • Assist with the management of global patent and trademark portfolios by ensuring the docket is accurate, updated, and all docketed actions are timely followed through
  • Perform daily case management tasks, including organization and maintenance of case documents and correspondence, docketing of deadlines and routine monitoring of case dockets and activity;
  • Preparation of global formal legal documents and ensuring their compliance with local laws and regulations.
  • Oversee preparation of and validate routine documents prepared by IP support staff.
  • Ensure patent filings and other formal papers are completed, and, where warranted, extensions are in place.
  • Communicate regularly with outside counsel and prosecution agents regarding the filing, formal requirements, and prosecution of patent applications and issuance patents;
  • Help formulate and adhere to IP budget and monitoring expenses;
  • Provide litigation support concerning document management and e-discovery matters.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 1-3 years of relevant law firm or in-house experience as a Paralegal, with experience in reviewing advertising, promotional and marketing materials.
  • Proficiency with U.S. and European patent filings (prosecution, maintenance and renewal)
  • Proficiency with U.S. and European trademark filings (prosecution, maintenance, and renewal)
  • Proficiency with electronic filing tools and procedures (e.g., USPTO eFile; ePCT, PCT-SAFE, etc.)
  • Detailed and advanced knowledge of USPTO and WIPO procedures and forms, including detailed knowledge of PAIR, EFS, EPAS, TESS, TEAS, TDR, TARR, PCT-SAFE, and ePCT preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and SharePoint is required
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with highly sensitive or confidential information.
  • Ability to effectively present information in individual and group situations to other employees of the organization, outside parties, and outside counsel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Law firm experience concerning patent prosecution and adversarial proceedings.
  • In-house experience working in a biotechnology company involved in antibody and/or immune-oncology related field.
